Hyde Park, California—now a neighborhood within the City of Los Angeles—was originally established as an independent city in 1921. It was later annexed into Los Angeles in 1923.

Note: Hyde Park began as a streetcar suburb, established on the expanding Pacific Electric Railway lines in the 1920s.  Eventually it became part of the urban fabric of South Los Angeles, then consolidated into the City of Los Angeles. This Pacific Electric Railway connected the small town of Redondo Beach to Downtown Los Angeles at the Pacific Electric Headquartersand terminal at 6th and Spring streets
